Speech and Language Therapist

  • We are looking for a passionate, curious, fun SLT to join our dynamic team of paediatric professionals!
  • We offer flexible working arrangements that are family friendly – including negotiable school holidays, use of vehicle, and professional development hours.
  • We offer flexible case load of face-to-face therapy, as well as training and coaching of staff, built around your skills and passions.

We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist, who is passionate about working in a school setting with children and young adults who have a range of learning needs. Vast opportunities for ongoing professional development and growth will be part of this role, with autonomy and support to choose the areas of interest you would like to grow in.  This role is suitable for a new grad, or an experienced therapist.  We are a small school with a big heart, with a roll of approximately 100 students.

About us:  Fairhaven school is an innovative organisation, always seeking new and superior ways to support our students to learn and achieve.  We are a proactive, neurodiverse affirming, trauma informed and culturally responsive school.  We are globally connected to other specialist schools and therapy services and maintain strong local links within Te Matau-a-Māui, Hawkes Bay.   We work alongside other agencies who are committed to providing the best outcomes for children and young adults. We have a commitment to Te Tiriti, and to working collaboratively with whānau, our local schools who host our off-site satellite classes and our community.

About you:  You will work within a small, vibrant and knowledgeable transdisciplinary team of professionals including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, music therapists, kaitohutohu (whānau support), psychologist, and teachers.  As a member of our school, you will be expected to work collaboratively with ākonga, whānau, kaiako, and kaimahi; share best practices, and contribute to a culture where our students are celebrated for their unique strengths and abilities. We want you to bring your enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to creating an inclusive, affirming environment for both students and staff.

We are a supportive, fun, enthusiastic and curious team, who are not afraid to explore new ideas. Come join us with your passion and commitment to creating a great team environment and school.

As our school is on various sites, a current driver’s license is essential.

Start date: Term 1 or 2 2025 negotiable.
